In Project zomboid if you die in singleplayer, you loose the game and you have to start new game. In MP you basicaly loose just character and you start from lvl1. Near death trauma is easier and less flustrating than permadeath would be. It just reminds you.

Near death trauma finally made it actually bad to die. In a16 even at minimum wellness it didn't really matter. The penalty was pretty much non existent. Imo near death trauma is too strong but it is a fantastic idea that actually punishes players for dying. It just needs a bit of adjusting.
